Urban Transportation Guide in Panama
Panama City offers various transportation options that make it easy for tourists to get around from the moment they arrive. Tocumen International Airport provides authorized taxis, private transport services, and mobility apps that allow quick access to the city center or major hotels. Once in the city, getting around is convenient thanks to the availability of car and bike rentals, as well as ride-sharing apps that allow tourists to explore attractions with flexibility.
Panama Metro
Within Panama City, the transportation network is modern with the recently opened metro.
You can use your Visa Card or purchase a Metro card at the machines or ticket counters (used for both Metro and Metrobus).
Travel Costs:
- Line 1: $0.35 per trip.
- Line 2 (includes airport connection): $0.50 per trip.
- If you transfer between lines: The total can reach around $0.85 in a single journey.
METRO BUS
By bus, you can get around the entire city. The cost is $0.25 per trip.
It is necessary to purchase the Metrobus card in advance to use it; cash payments are not accepted.
The card can be bought at metro stations. It is a rechargeable card. First, the card is purchased (valid for use by multiple people at the same time), and then it is loaded according to the trips you plan to make.
Tocumen Airport
From the airport, there is a bus stop located approximately 250 meters from the arrivals terminal.
You must purchase the Metrobus card in advance to pay for the ride.

In Panama City, taxis and platforms like Uber, inDrive, and similar services offer fast and safe transportation for tourists and residents.
